The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, died in a blood-spattered cot in Haringey, north London, in August last year. He had spent much of his short life being treated as a punchbag, suffering more than 50 injuries.

His mother's 32-year-old boyfriend and another man, Jason Owen, 36, were convicted at the Old Bailey on Tuesday of causing or allowing his death. The baby's mother had previously pleaded guilty to the same charge. Judge Stephen Kramer has warned all three they can expect "a substantial term of imprisonment" when they are sentenced on December 15.

Baby P's natural father has spoken of his "very traumatic" experiences after the death of his son, adding: "I loved him deeply." Speaking publicly for the first time, the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, condemned the three people convicted of involvement in his son's death.

He said in a statement: "Those who systematically tortured P and killed him kept it a secret, not just from me but from all the people who visited the house up until P's death. Even after he died, they lied to cover up their abuse."

Baby P's mother and boyfriend can also not be named for legal reasons. Gordon Brown has promised he will "do everything in my power" to ensure there is no repeat of the brutal death of Baby P. The Prime Minister's comments came after it emerged that social care inspectors raised concerns with Haringey Council six months before the 17-month-old baby died.

Mr Brown said:"I am determined that everything we do, the inquiries we are having in this case, reveal everything that went on. But I am absolutely sure that, like me, every parent in the country is outraged and shocked by what has happened and angered about what happened to that infant."

Tory leader David Cameron said: "This is an absolutely tragic case of a baby who seems almost literally to have fallen through the cracks of a bureaucratic system.

I would like to know how the real father of the child was kept in the dark about the injuries...how is this possible if you meet your own child and hold it. If there was the slitest thing wrong with a child I would notice..how is this possible that people can be so blind. A social worker that visits the Baby and he´s upset and injured. How the hell can you miss that? I know we´re not supposed to judge, but this is beyond my comprehension.

where was the real father while all this was going on? If he had been around there is no way he could have missed all the brusies and open wounds. It was said his father had taken him july 27. If he had taken him how could he not notice that the baby couldn''t walk? By then his spine had been broken. He said he could tell he was withdrawn and upset. He had a bandage over his finger. Why didn''t he take it off and look? I don''t understand how he missed all this. Doesn''t sound like a very good father to me. He doesn''t deserve people''s sympathy. He should have know something was terribly wrong and done something about it. As far as I am concerned he and the people who did the actual tormenting the mother who did nothing to help her son and everybody who failed him deserves to be tortured just like he was.

I do wonder if the father had been seeing him all along while the torture was going on or what not. I wish we could hear where his father had been and his side of the story.

Forget about the real father, it was the mother and her live in lover and lodger. Very embarssed by social services who did nothing, because of them this has happened, they have blood on their hands. This should of been prevented by social services who did not notice anything which does not make any sense. You can not miss so many injuries on a baby like this. This is due to poor neglect and the saying is a baby should be with it''s mother, well wrong not in those circumstances. I firmly believe the mother should get a life sentence as well. Knowing what is happening the mother should of protected baby peter and gone into a safe home. She knew what she was doing when she covered his face in chocolate. The letter of guilt is not for baby p but herself for being caught out.

Wow... I just actually read this horrific story my heart goes out to little baby Peter. I can''t believe their are monsters like these out there. How anyone could hit or harm a child in these ways and not feel bad is beyond me. I hope these parents get tortured in prison by other inmates, or if and when they get out someone who has the same mindset as these two murderous pigs takes care of them. I would not feel an ounce of pity for them, if it does happen. I don''t understand why any mother could or would stand by while someone is beating their child! There are plenty of people out there who want kids and can''t have them, but yet we have monsters like these that can. All I can say is I am astonished at the fact that monsters like this ever get to walk the streets again. God bless you baby Peter may you rest in God''s arms now.
