The Earth is Our Mother, Care For Her

(added last year!)

At a time when the world appears to be falling apart at the seams, where can we seek solace? How did we end up here? How do we get out of it?

What does the Bible and Koran offer us? Have they had their time?

I ask because these religions have been around quite a long time. They have been used as a source of belief, guidance and indoctrination for centuries and look where we are.

If religion was so great, why doesn't it work for all of man kind rather than a select few?

I am not a religious person, but I do feel a certain spirituality in trying to come to terms with my part in the universe. I do not believe them to be one and the same. We are where we are because we have lost touch with where we came from; this Earth. Our only home. It can be our only true context. It's as simple as that.

I do not for one second believe I have made a religious or contentious statement. I do not believe anyone could argue the point.

If we buy a car and abuse it by ignoring the service light or bald tyres we simply court disaster.; damage, injury, possibly death. And not necessarily our own.

Yet we go about our lives nibbling away at her believing we can separate her destruction from the destruction of ourselves.

We are connected. We cannot possibly under any circumstances be separated. What would we do, move to the Moon?

The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth.

So where can we look to for some simple guidance?

May I suggest the Native American?

Dare I suggest that we all find the idea of an American Indian on our shoulder caring for us and guiding us through life quite romantic? The Earth is our Mother. Care for Her.
